An Abuja High Court sitting at Apo, Tuesday, has ruled that former Speaker Dimeji Bankole and his deputy Usman Bayero Nafada have no case to answer in the N40bn loan case.
The court ruled on a “no-case-submission” before it by the erstwhile Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Dimeji Bankole and his deputy, Usman Bayero Nafada pertaining to the 17-count criminal charge preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged role they played in a N40 billion loan saga that trailed the sixth session of the lower chamber.
Justice Belgore rubbishes Keyamo’s case as he ruled that he the accused did not benefit from the loan.
There was no theft as it was a loan that have been liquidated and it was provided for in the budget.
Belgore further ruled that it was not a salary increase or allowance increase but increase in running cost. The judge in the ruling that lasted over three hours said there was no linkage of the accussed with conspiracy or thef which have not been established.
The account for the loan was not operated by the accussed and the disbursement was not done by the accussed.
